Our 2015 Annual Benefit Ride For Rescue was a huge success! The weather was perfect and we had a great turnout. There are so many people to thank for the success of this ride.
Thanks to all who participated in this event. 132 riders rode a trail of obstacles that all had a different holiday theme. We managed to keep this a secret, so the riders could be surprised as they approached each obstacle. We had so many positive comments on how much they enjoyed this ride. Next year, will be another unexpected surprise, so be sure and watch for the 2016 ride date that will be announced the first of the year!
We had over 40 volunteers that did a wonderful job. PER is blessed to have this group of special people to help in many facets of the rescue and they certainly outdid themselves at this ride. The judges, kitchen helpers and pavilion team worked well together, were very professional and took extra steps to make everything perfect. We are also grateful to the volunteers who got out there and hustled for prize donations. We had many nice prizes for the riders to choose from.
Special thanks to ride coordinator, Vickie Bell and also Kim Gallagher, who partnered with her on handling the obstacles. A lot goes into marking the trail, finding the perfect spot for each obstacle and getting them set up. We also appreciate Nicole Eagle for driving from Niceville to be Vickie’s assistant. Safety rider, Cheryl Melaven did an awesome job stepping in when rider’s had problems and making sure everyone got in safely.
Kudos to the judges, who not only decorated their obstacle, but also dressed for the holiday they represented! They all had a blast being able to participate in a different way.
The food was delicious! Thank you Matt Bell and Kelly Crabtree for grilling the hamburgers and hot dogs. All of the food was donated or bought with gift cards, so all proceeds from lunch are going to the horses.
Congratulations to the winner of this year’s raffle for the Samsung Tablet; Julie Austin of Saraland, AL.!
Thank you Pecos the clown for entertaining us with your rope tricks!
